Power Play Up Close With …. The Media

On March 28th, over 40 women attended the 3rd Annual WISE Houston Power Play: Up Close with the Media. A Signature Event held at Univision Deportes Radio Houston inside their lavish Uforia Lounge.
The Power Play event is held every year and is one of four WISE National Signature Events. Power Play is a program panel event featuring senior to executive level women from various view points of the featured industry and their direct connection to sports and events, who represent different areas of discipline within the organization. During this signature event, attendees had the opportunity to learn how these leaders in the industry got their start and overcame obstacles to achieve their goals and reach the level of excellence at which they are at today. Those featured panelist were:
- Allie LeClair – Houston Texans Manager, Corporate Communications
- Kate Klein – Entercom Director, Live Events and Experiences
- Leslie Enriquez – Univision, Senior Producer
- Pattie Smith – Harris County Houston Sports Authority, Director, Public Relations, Power Play Event Emcee
This was such a great opportunity for our featured leaders in the Sports and Media industry to give insight to how Media plays such a strong part and with Women In Sports and Events!
Our Panelist:
Leslie Enriquez, Senior Producer Univision
Leslie Enríquez is an enthusiastic journalist with twenty years of experience. Leslie is a five-time Lone Star Emmy award winner, who currently holds the position of Senior Producer and oversees the production of the 10pm weekly newscast for Univision Houston. In addition, she produces and presents special reports that focus on health issues. Prior to joining the Houston team in 2012, Leslie was the Assignments Director/ Producer Supervisor for Univision 62 in Austin, Texas. She was also the producer and talent of the weekly segment “62 A Su Lado”, where she presented issues impacting the Hispanic community. In 1999, Leslie began her journalistic career at the Univision affiliate station in Corpus Christi, Texas; after a semester as an intern, she was hired as a reporter. During her 10 years at KORO Univision she earned the opportunity to anchor and produce. Leslie has reported for Univision’s Network programs such as “Primer Impacto”. A native of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Leslie came to the United States after graduating from High School, earning two Associates degrees, one in Journalism and the other one in Radio, Television and Film from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas and a Bachelor’s in Arts in Communications from the University of Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Leslie is happily married and enjoys church and community service; she is a board member of Día de la Mujer Latina, a non-profit organization that promotes health awareness.
Kate Klein, Director Live Events & Experiences, Entercom
Kate Klein is the Director of Live Events & Experiences at Entercom, America’s #1 creator of live and local audio content. Entercom operates six radio brands in the Houston market: Mix 96.5, 95.7 The Spot, SportsRadio 610, CBS Sports 650, Mega 101, and 100.3 The Bull. As the Director of Live Events and Experiences, Kate is responsible for creating dynamic music and lifestyle events and implementing a strategy for marketing, sponsorship and attendee experience. Prior to joining Entercom, Kate was the Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for the Houston Marathon where she led the Business and Community Development Team. Prior to that role, Kate was in sales and sales management in media for more than a decade. Kate has also served as Vice President at the Houston Interactive Marketing Association and teaches Sales Negotiations and Communications in the MBA Program at the University of Houston-Downtown.
Allie LeClair, Corporate Communications Manager, Houston Texans
Allie LeClair is the Corporate Communications Manager for the Houston Texans and 2019 marks her eighth season in the National Football League. Before joining the Texans, LeClair spent a year in Las Vegas working for Kirvin Doak Communications handling public relations for several entertainment properties and nonprofits on the Strip. She began her NFL career as an intern with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2011), followed by the Ravens (2012) and in a full-time role with the Cardinals in 2013. She is from Two Rivers, WI.
