Our WISE Houston’s 2019 Women of Inspiration honorees are:
JULIA MORALES CLARK, AT&T SportsNet On-Air Talent
Julia Morales Clark is the field reporter for the Houston Astros on AT&T SportsNet. In her seventh season with the team, she serves as a third broadcaster, is the creator of a weekly segment with the Astros manager called Covering All the Bases and also produces and hosts the Emmy Award-winning show, Astros Bases Loaded. In the Astros’ offseason, you can find her hosting Rockets pre and postgame shows. Before coming to Houston, she spent two years at Your News Now in Austin, a 24-hour network covering sports including the Round Rock Express. She began her broadcast career as the weekend sports anchor at KTEN in Sherman, Texas before taking the same position at CBS 19 in Tyler, Texas.
A native of Crandall, Texas, she spent two years as a World Famous Kilgore College Rangerette and then went on to join Texas Pom at the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated a degree in broadcast journalism.
Julia has been a WISE member since its Houston Chapter launched in 2016.
AMY PALCIC, Houston Texans, Vice President Communication
Amy Palcic joined the Houston Texans in June 2013. As vice president of communications, Palcic serves as the chief spokesperson and leads the public relations, football communications and corporate communications efforts for the texans and handles all relationship management with the NFL’s billon-dollar network TV partners. In February 2016, Palcic was promoted from director of corporate communications to director of communications and was elevated to vice president of communications in April 2018.
Palcic’s team was selected as co-winners of the 2017 Pete Rozelle Award, recognizing the top NFL public relations team by the Professional Football Writers of America. She was the first director to win the award in their first year as well as the first female director to win this award. Palcic also was named on of PR News’ Top Women in PR in 2017.
Palcic is a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston Board of Directors and is a member of the Women in Sports and Entertainment (WISE) chapter in Houston. In 2006, Palcic attended Stanford University Executive Education Graduate School of Business and was selected as one of the “up-and-coming NFL Executives”. She continued her education in May 2013 when she attended Rollins College Philanthropy Center and studied Development and Fundraising. She is a graduate of Auburn University.
GRETCHEN SHEIRR, Houston Rockets, Chief Revenue Officer
Gretchen Sheirr will be entering her 19th season with the Houston Rockets, and her 4th as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In her current capacity, Sheirr is responsible for all sales, service, and overall revenue strategy for the organization. She joined the organization as an account executive in 2001 and worked her way up the ranks.
In 2017, Sheirr was named one of Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40, which annually recognizes the top young professionals in sports business and was also recognized by Texas Executive Women as a Woman on the Move that same year. She is also a founding board member of WISE Houston (Women in Sports and Events) and is a member of the Executive Women’s Partnership. Gretchen and her husband are actively involved in the ADL Houston.
Sheirr graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a degree in marketing. She also was a four-year letter winner as a diver for LSU. Gretchen and her husband, Ken, live in The Woodlands with their twins, Jordan and Zachary.
